Calling all Zephyrs!
Imagine a unique space out West, on the edge of the world. A space In the Welsh Wind – home of our gin. A space for appreciating the skills of distillation, for immersing yourself in botanicals, for understanding the complexities of gin, and much more. A space for getting together with friends, for relaxing, laughing, dancing. A space hosting unique events. Now imagine being a part of it all, a trusted supporter, one of our ‘Zephyrs’.
When we moved back to West Wales, we were making a conscious decision to build our lives here, to bring up our family here, to create something special for the community where we live. Growing In the Welsh Wind, our craft distillery, in a refurbished cow shed at Tresaith, overlooking the sea, has shown us how we can do this – and we want to involve as many of our community as we can.
We’re on the cusp of something really exciting. Our new premises, formerly the Gogerddan Arms, Tan y Groes, sits at the crossroads on the coast road between Cardigan and Aberaeron, Aberporth and Newcastle Emlyn in the heart of Ceredigion. We’ve been hard at it, ripping out the old and introducing the In the Welsh Wind vibe into this iconic building. Our plans are coming to fruition and it’s time to give you the chance to be with us from our new beginning, to be one of our Zephyrs!
The Zephyr is a westerly wind. It’s what we feel daily, caressing the coast and the distillery as we go about our work. It’s the Welsh wind that inspires us, that keeps us moving forward, and we see our supporters as Zephyrs too – part of the wind that blows at our backs as we shape the future of spirits, here on the beautiful Ceredigion coast.
Why In the Welsh Wind?
The first of its kind in Wales, we’re less education and more innovation – less gin school and more gin lab. We offer a space to experiment and truly discover your gin; while other ‘gin schools’ are now available, you won’t find us there! We don’t ignore the history and tradition of gin making – but we refuse to be constrained by it. During our gin making experiences we advise and guide you, provide you with the tools and botanicals to create your gin, referencing echoes of the past where appropriate, but we’re about flavour over formality, the ‘hedonism’ of gin, rather than its history.
Alongside our gin making and gin tasting experiences, you’ll find a fresh space, ideally located on the West Wales coast road just north of Cardigan, between Aberystwuth and Haverford West, between Aberporth and Carmarthen. We’re a working distillery – and we’re keen for you to come down and soak up the vibes with us. Great coffee during the day, walls featuring local Welsh printmakers and artists, a retail space where you can choose from our selection of gins. We’ll have plenty of parking, a woodland to walk through when you need to clear your head, space for events – we have big plans and as a Zephyr, you’ll be a big part of it all, here with us from the beginning.
